Coding Post 1

Good day reader! Are you a code enthusiast? Are you wondering which coding language and apps are available to iPad users? This blog post is about Swift Playgrounds. It is an Apple app and uses the Swift language. The swift language is easy to learn and is a great way to improve your coding skills and knowledge. I am currently working away on the Learn to Code 2 course and have already completed two stages! Here is my code for Learn to Code 2, Types, Random Gems Everywhere.

A day in the life and home of a child in an informal settlement.

I wake with a grumble and a groan. “Morning Classmates, I am Kella” comes my older sister’s voice. My stomach is very sore from hunger. Ow! My bed is rather hard, but still slightly softer than the floor in the shack. I crawled out of the bedroom and into some clothes. I peered into the small fridge hopeful as could be, only to find it empty. I check the cupboard for some bread sticks. I turn around, breadstick breakfast in my hand, to see my dad carrying my mom down the passage. Carrying! “What on earth?”, yelled my brain.  “Where’s the food?”, yelled my stomach. “Coming”, replies my arm bringing the bread stick to my mouth. Crunch! I take a big bite of the bread stick. “Hello Hun” says my mom. “Your dad got a new job and surprised me with a great big secret!”.  “What?” I ask extremely excited. “A new house! An E-khaya shack structure. We will each have our own sleeping spots!”  By now I am over the moon with excitement. “An upstairs and downstairs will be built.” My mom goes on

The Raymond Rebbel

Iris Vuaghan Last week, how could last week be your favourite week?! Let me explain:   Last week the singing inspector came to school, his name was Raymond. He wore humongous knicker bockers and had eyes like tiny blueberries.  His hair was of golden curls. His face was as red as a tomato and looked ready to pop! Charles and I were sent to the front of the class first and were told to sing. We said we don’t know any songs except “Pretty Polly.” Raymond got very angry and annoyed so he shouted at us. We started singing, I must admit that I was still scared so I sang in a high pitched voice. Thank goodness after that, Charles and I were sent out to do sums.  Apparently after we left the singing lesson it became more horrible, actually horrendous and even embarrassing. We got off easy and learned our 13 times tables in maths.

Our Gr 5 camp at High Africa

Our Gr 5 camp at High Africa On the on the bus on the way to High Africa I sat next to my friend Connor. We played some great card games on the bus. We played “ go fish ” the game .      When we got there we were split into 5 teams and were told to practice war cries. We then went to our activitys, we had the climbing wall and the leep of faith! We first got to the climbing wall and believe it or not I got to the top. The wall was ten meters tall.  After the wall we went to the leep of faith!!! The leep of faith is an interesting obstacle course. We had to climb a ladder onto a platform.  We then got onto a log all of this three meters above ground, and leep and catch a trapeze. Not to brag I caught the pole two  out of two times! We made potjie later on. My team made a great pot!!! See you next time Joshua Klue
